Campus Store employees were recently trained on how to properly use a fire extinguisher. UCSB instructors educated them on the basics of fire extinguisher locations on campus, common fire hazards, proper procedures, safe evacuation routes, and more. They now have the confidence to react quickly during an emergency, thus protecting students and staff on campus. Stay calm and think fast HDAE Team!

Solar Energy at Work in HDAE 

Solar energy is used extensively at UCSB in all three forms: photoelectric panels (PV) which produce electricity, solar thermal panels which produce hot water, and solar pool systems which heat pools. PV panels are the most prevalent and are above the parking structures, parking lots and on roof tops. The largest is shown below in Lot 38. This produces enough electricity for approximately 400 homes (1,931 kW).

Together Again at the Fall Town Hall Meeting

After three years we were back together for an in-person Fall Town Hall Meeting! It was wonderful to see friends, reconnect with team members and enjoy some of the delicious UCSB catering (this author loves the coconut chocolate chip muffins).

The Club & Guest House is Open & Ready to Serve You!

The Club & Guest House has reopened after two and a half years since its temporary closure in support of the campus COVID effort. Beginning Monday, September 19, all services resumed, including Guest House accommodations, Dining Room lunch, Events & Catering services and the Membership program.
