UCSB’s Open House Welcomes Future Gauchos and Their Families

More than ten thousand guests funneled onto campus on Saturday, April 15, 2023, for UCSB’s Annual Open House. HDAE student and career employees were 230+ strong at the Housing Fair at Storke Plaza representing Residential & Community Living, the Residential Housing Association, Campus Dining, The Club & Guest House, the Associate Vice Chancellor’s Office, and the HDAE MarCom Team.

Survey Says… Your Voice Matters

Let me start by congratulating Jill Horst and the Campus Dining team! The International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) has recognized Jill with the Silver Plate Award. This is a significant achievement and pays tribute to innovative and outstanding foodservice operations and their leaders. She will receive the award at a celebration in Chicago on May 20, 2023.

Mobile Access Card Coming Soon to Samsung Wallet

For 20+ years, UCSB has been expanding the functionality and service locations for the Access Card. Not until this last Fall did it become a recognized campus enterprise capability, with a newly formed Access Governance Committee (Co-Chaired by Ben Price and Melissa Jarnagin). The committee has forty staff members to help guide all Access decision-making, service changes, and enhancements.

Thank you to HDAE Staff for Making a Difference!

On the five year anniversary of the catastrophic January 9 Debris Flow in Montecito, another record-setting storm system battered Santa Barbara County and resulted in closures of highways 101 and 154 by late Monday afternoon. As a result, all of the local hotels were filled within hours of the evacuation orders and road closures, and several of our staff that commute to campus were stranded without a place to stay the night.
