Promoting Wellness and an Active Lifestyle
UC Walks Santa Barbara was held virtually May 6 - May 13, 2020. As challenging as this remote world has been, the circumstances allowed us to get creative with this year's event which was offered virtually due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This year’s UC Walks was open to all UCSB staff, faculty, and students, and it gave participants something to look forward to while promoting an active lifestyle and staying connected virtually.
COVID-19 Practices
I would like to start by conveying my gratitude for the work you are doing to serve our UCSB community during this unprecedented time. As some of the most critical staff on our campus, your work has not gone unnoticed by me or the campus leadership; thank you.
Unique and Engaging Experiences... Virtually
Despite having most of our UCSB student population “attending” university remotely, Resident Directors (RDs) and Assistant Resident Directors (ARDs) continued their hard work with their Residential Curriculum, Living Learning Communities (LLCs), and Cultural Mentorship Programs (CMPs). All RDs and ARDs worked on virtual curriculum and held weekly office hours for students to attend.

To Our Talented & Caring Employees:
Thank you for all the work that you’re doing to serve our customers during this challenging time. I want to take a moment to share that the Director's Team is meeting almost every day working to prepare for a return to in-person operations, while doing our best to keep everyone healthy and safe.

Want to be big dill? Learn how to pickle vegetables! Brian Smith, Production Manager at Carrillo Dining Commons, did a Food Nutrition & Basic Skills demo via Zoom on Preserving Food & Buying in Bulk and we are fortunate to be able to share the video. Bon Appétit!
Planning Great Digital Experiences for Students
My name is Jill Singletary and I have the best job on campus! I manage the programming in The Hub in the University Center. My job pays me to keep up on pop culture, meet cool and interesting people, and program and attend all sorts of fun events in the Hub and now virtually. What could be better!?
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night (nor COVID) stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.
